Antique Theodore Haviland Limoges Butter Pat 3" Plate Abram French Boston 1893-
Theodore Haviland
This antique individual porcelain butter pat was manufactured by the renowned Theodore Haviland firm in Limoges, France, and custom-imported for the elite Abram French Company of Boston, Massachusetts. Thanks to the dual backmarks on the underside, this exquisite piece can be dated precisely to a narrow window between 1893 and 1903. Impressed Maker's Mark: Features the crisp, incised T ✳ H stamp directly in the porcelain blank body, which Theodore Haviland introduced in 1893 after establishing his independent facility. Retailer Backmark: Features the beautiful orange script stamp for the Abram French Company of Boston. Because it is stamped Company (incorporated in 1892) rather than & Co., it firmly roots this piece in the late Victorian/early Edwardian era. Pattern: Schleiger 133 Features a beautifully scalloped rim accented by an encrusted gold scroll motif. The gold trim features a deliberate sponge-applied technique. Diameter: 3'' Condition: Excellent (Cabinet Condition) This piece is a stunning survivor. It has clearly been kept safely tucked away in a formal china cabinet for the last 120+ years.
