IKEA STOCKHOLM Monika Mulder 17" Stainless Steel Floral Bowl 2006 Y2K MCM
IKEA
Striking vintage IKEA STOCKHOLM sculptural bowl designed by Monika Mulder, dating to the 2006 STOCKHOLM collection. This is the large approximately 17 silver-tone version, constructed from overlapping organic floral/leaf forms in polished stainless steel. The individual forms curve upward to create a shallow openwork bowl with a wonderfully sculptural appearance. IKEA's own museum archive identifies the piece as Monika Mulder's STOCKHOLM Bowl from 2006, describing it as a botanically inspired design made from joined metal leaves. The 2006 STOCKHOLM collection was conceived as IKEA's elevated design range, emphasizing unusually high-quality materials and construction for the company. The result is very much of its period: Y2K Scandinavian modernism with a Space Age / Mid-Century Modern revival feel. It works equally well as a fruit bowl, dining-table centerpiece, coffee-table object, or simply displayed empty as a piece of sculptural design. Original “Monika Mulder / Design Monika Mulder” designer label remains attached. Approximate measurements: 17 diameter 3½–4 high
